How might the Internet of Things enable energy efficiency? That’s the topic Yaletown partner Salil Munjal will moderate at the Banff Venture Forum on September 25, as part of the conference’s sustainable technology series. Salil will challenge four veteran energy technology investors to explore and debate how the Internet of Things could affect environmental sustainability in the face of North America’s increasingly energy-intensive existence.

Yaletown Moderating GP Operations Panel at Investors-Only Session
As part of the Pre-Conference Investor Session held on Wednesday Sept 24, 2014, Yaletown Partner Hans Knapp will moderate a panel on GP Operations. Hans will lead speaker panelists Neal Hill of BDC, Steve Gillan of Azure Capital and Chris Erickson of Pangaea through a discussion on such topics as emerging compensation models, how small funds deal with back offices, infrastructure to maximize efficiencies, creative ideas for LP / CEO events and effective LP reporting. Alberta Enterprise and the Venture Capital Association of Alberta are co-sponsoring the Pre-Conference Investor Session.
Entrepreneurs Bootcamp Reaches Beyond BVF
For entrepreneurs too early stage or not-quite-ready to attend the Banff Venture Forum, Rocketbuilders is hosting a one-day Entrepreneur Bootcamp on September 24. Yaletown partner, Brad Johns, is among the venture capital advisors participating and will provide startups with details on fundraising in Western Canada and the US, as well as knowledge on topics such as valuations, deal structures, tips and trends.
