As Canadian startups grow, venture capital gaps remain

Globe and Mail technology reporter, Shane Dingman, interviewed industry players about the outlook for venture capital in Canadian tech in 2015. Yaletown and others observe that blockbuster deals may be masking a capital crunch for tech ventures in growth stage past startup and pre-exit.As Dingman notes, “ ..a serious lack of local funding plagues mid-level Canadian tech startups... When startups begin earning revenue ... and need growth funding, they can’t self-finance, the funnel narrows and fewer financiers are still in the ring."
