Yaletown is very proud to announce that Sophie Gupta, Principal, has co-led the design and development of the equality funding initiative announced today in Ottawa by The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie. We also recognize and congratulate Sophie’s co-leaders, Jessica Houssian, Senior Advisor, Women Moving Millions, and Jessica Tomlin, CEO of the Match International Women’s Fund, as well as Minister Bibeau and the Government of Canada. The initiative is a unique platform for collective impact that brings together social innovators, philanthropists, private investors and public servants in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Canada and around the world. The goal is to channel significant resources towards driving change for gender equality, through support for women’s organizations and movements and through investments in impact-driven businesses. The Government of Canada is greatly committed to the empowerment of women and girls and has already pledged a leading contribution of up to $300 million to the initiative. This is an innovative partnership between public and private stakeholders that demonstrates that economic growth and cultural change can be achieved together, yielding a greater impact for both.Sophie has always been a passionate advocate for social justice and a powerful voice for women rights. Her active participation in this initiative is the continued expression of the exemplary leadership she has demonstrated on these issues. We are fortunate to have Sophie as a member of the Yaletown’s team, and congratulate her, each of Jessica Houssian and Jessica Tomlin as well as the Government of Canada on taking a global lead on this important initiative.Author: Salil Munjal, Managing Partner, YaletownThe MATCH International Women's Fund press release
