Execs of Bit Stew and Monexa join Yaletown as SLPs

Yaletown Partners is thrilled to announce that Kevin Collins and Alex Clark, the co-founding team of Vancouver-Based Bit Stew recently acquired by GE Digital, and Barry Yates, former CEO of Monexa acquired by NetSuite in 2015, have joined Yaletown as Special Limited Partners.
SLPs are close strategic advisors to Yaletown’s management team and their experience and networks are available to every Yaletown portfolio company. Like Kevin, Alex and Barry, our SLPs have founded, built and financed many of the technology companies that have defined their categories.

Kevin Collins is Co-Founder and past CEO of Bit Stew Systems Inc., a Yaletown Partners portfolio company that was acquired by GE Digital in 2016. Kevin is now a VP of GE. During Kevin’s leadership, Bit Stew grew its industrial customer base and partner network and was recognized on two of Forbes 100 lists for IoT and Analytics as well as Gartner’s Cool Vendors in 2014. Kevin is an accomplished industrial Internet entrepreneur and executive with more than 20 years’ experience in architecting and designing world-class technology solutions. He has held executive and senior management positions with Fortune 500 companies and startups including Ernst & Young, Motorola Wireless Data Group, Navio Systems and NetReliance.
Alex Clark is a seasoned technology innovator and a leading expert in embedded software, massively parallel compute-architectures, and leveraging artificial intelligence to create unique solutions that provide tangible market value. Alex was co-founder of Bit Stew Systems Inc., and was responsible for developing the initial software that has evolved into MIx Core with a focus on real-time analytics, complex data integration and artificial intelligence. Prior to Bit Stew, Alex was also Chief Technology Officer with Navio Systems in Silicon Valley and led the technical vision for the company’s award-winning and patented rights-based commerce technology.
Barry Yates was President & CEO of Monexa, a Yaletown Partners portfolio company that was acquired by NetSuite in 2015. An accomplished startup CEO, Barry contributes 25 years of experience developing and executing profitable growth strategies. Before Monexa, Barry was the Chief Operating Officer of Blast Radius, where he helped lead the company’s global expansion to become one of the top digital marketing agencies with offices in Canada, the US and Europe. Blast Radius was acquired by WPP, one of the world’s largest marketing services network. Before his startup leadership career, Barry spent several years at management consultancy Bain & Company, as well as with BearingPoint and Accenture. Currently Barry is the Managing Director of the entrepreneurship program at the University of British Columbia (e@UBC).
