Microsoft names ThoughtWire Great Canadian Innovator
August 27, 2020
Yaletown Partners is proud to share the news that its portfolio company ThoughtWire has been included in Microsoft’s 2020 Great Canadian Innovators Yearbook. The Yearbook recognizes 15 remarkable, technology-driven Canadian companies innovating in their field by leveraging AI, IoT as well as cloud-based analytics and computing to bring outstanding solutions to customers in Canada and beyond.
Using cutting-edge Digital Twin technology, ThoughtWire orchestrates data from people, processes, IoT devices and the physical built environment to help make hospitals, commercial buildings and cities safer, more secure and more sustainable—all in real time. ThoughtWire unlocks the value of that data by leveraging artificial intelligence to predict behaviours, usages and trends, allowing actions to be taken autonomously.
In naming ThoughtWire a “Great Canadian Innovator,” Microsoft celebrates ThoughtWire’s “creative application of technology and applaud[s] them for their tenacity, resourcefulness, and sacrifice.” At Yaletown, we certainly agree with these plaudits, having participated in ThoughtWire’s recent $11.5 million financing, and as a proud investor in ThoughtWire since 2018, when we led their $20‑million Series A financing.
Microsoft chose to honour ThoughtWire because their story is inspiring. We look forward to continuing to draw inspiration from ThoughtWire, as they change how we think about intelligent automation and process optimization.
