Yaletown’s Salil Munjal to chair TMX-backed roundtable exploring how to scale Canada’s technology companies
August 24, 2016
The TMX Group today announced a roundtable of investment community leaders to examine ways to increase access to growth capital for companies in Canada’s innovation economy. Salil Munjal, General Partner at Yaletown Partners, will chair the Accelerating Innovation Roundtable.
“Canada’s technology sector is one of the most important engines of this country’s future growth,” said Salil Munjal, Chair of the Accelerating Innovation Roundtable. “But we lag behind our global peers in developing market-leading technology companies with significant scale. The roundtable will deliver a set of actionable recommendations in early 2017 on how to successfully scale globally-competitive technology enterprises in Canada.”
The TMX Group is funding and supporting the work of the Accelerating Innovation Roundtable. Launching in September 2016, the Roundtable will focus on the scalability issues of Canadian technology and innovation firms caused by insufficient growth funding beyond the initial seed and start-up stages.
In addition to financing and supporting the growth of Canadian technology companies through Yaletown, one of Canada’s most active independent venture capital firms, Salil was formerly President & COO of Leitch Technology a Canadian public company that he helped grow to over a thousand employees with six global offices. Leitch was acquired for $600 million by Harris Communications (now Imagine).
