Joan Kuang is an accountant at Yaletown Partners in the Vancouver office. She is responsible for full cycle accounting, fund reporting, insurance application and payroll. She also prepares corporate tax returns for Canadian entities, as well as prepares working papers, US financial statements, and PFIC analysis and calculation to assist external accountants to file US tax returns on behalf of Yaletown US entities.

Joan has over 18 years of in-depth experience in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and taxation in various industries, including Aboriginal Government Organizations, Non-Profit Entities and 5 years in Public Practices.

Prior to joining Yaletown in 2019, Joan was controller of Det'on Cho Corporation (DCC), an Economic Development Arm of Yellowknife Dene First Nation. She was the lead of the finance department where she managed all aspects of accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, insurance, internal control, tax and complex 300 plus employees’ payroll. Prior to DCC, Joan was financial controller of Gwich'in Development Corporation, an aboriginal government entity.

Joan earned a Bachelor of Art from Beijing University in China and holds a Certified General Accountant Designation.
